Miami County Candidate Recommendations, Issue 1 Resources, and November 7 Election Information
Miami County School Board Recommendations
I would like to recommend the following candidates for election to the school board in Bethel Local School District, Tipp City School District, and Troy School District.
Bethel Local School District
There are three Bethel board seats up for election, which are organized into two distinct races. In the first race, four candidates are competing for two seats, while the second race features three candidates vying for a single seat.
The race to elect two members includes: Regan Butler (R), Jackie Leskowich (R), Kerry Pahal (Unaffiliated), and Lori Sebastian (R). Lori Sebastian is the incumbent who supported allowing male students to use female bathrooms and locker room facilities.
I am recommending support for Regan Butler (R) and Jackie Leskowich (R).
For more information, please view the candidates’ Facebook pages:
The race to elect one member includes: Megan Black-Striley (D), Lydda Mansfield (D), and Andrew Vieth (R). Lydda Mansfield has withdrawn her candidacy.
I am recommending support for Andrew Vieth (R).
For more information, please view the candidate’s Facebook page:
Tipp City School District
There are three incumbent seats open, none of the incumbents filed for re-election.
There are seven candidates seeking to fill the three open seats. The candidates are Linda Ares (R), Cindy Wilson Dillard (D), Joshua Grear (Unaffiliated), Ray Leo Lilly III (Unaffiliated), Angie McMurry (D), David Moorhead (R), and Kyle Thompson (Unaffiliated).
I am recommending support for Linda Ares (R) and David Moorhead (R).

Troy City School District
There are two incumbent seats open, none of the incumbents filed for re-election.
There are four candidates seeking to fill the two seats. The candidates are Sarah J. Davis (R), Brian Honeycutt (D), Tim Horgan (R), and Benjamin Redick (R).
I am recommending support for Sarah J. Davis (R) and Tim Horgan (R). Sarah J. Davis received an endorsement from Ohio Auditor Keith Faber and Tim Horgan received an endorsement from Ohio Value Voters.

The following candidates responded to a Miami County Liberty school board candidate survey and provided very conservative views: Regan Butler, Jackie Leskowich, Andy Vieth, Linda Ares, David Moorhead, Sarah J. Davis, and Tim Horgan.
Do you believe that parents have a fundamental right to direct their children's education and decide which education option best meets their children's needs? All candidates responded that they Agree.
Do you support teaching of Critical Race Theory in Ohio Schools? All candidates responded “No.”
Should tax dollars follow the student if a parent decides to move their child to a charter school or private school? All candidates responded “Yes.”
Should schools require parental consent (opt in) to teach children graphic sexualization (Comprehensive Sexuality Education)? All candidates responded “Yes.”
Should parents be notified (opt-in) when there is to be a classroom discussion about sexual orientation and gender identity? All candidates responded “Yes.”
Do you believe that children should be protected from exposure to pornography in the schools? All candidates responded “Yes.”
Will you support ORC 3313.6011 that ensures sexual risk avoidance (abstinence) education is taught in Ohio Schools? All candidates responded “Yes.”
In addition to the school board recommendations, I would also recommend Kama Dick (R) for Bethel Township Trustee, who is running against the incumbent Democrat, Donald Black.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
All the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
